The AVG Free Anti-virus software is everything that the normal windows user needs. I have been using this product for about two years now and it has performed beautifully. The package combines the anti-virus and the anti-malware engine and also provides their LinkScanner® and email scanning. LinkScanner® scans web pages, prior to your landing on them, and provides safety ratings for Google, MSN and Yahoo search engine results.
The program is both easy to install and easy to use. One word of caution; if you are currently running another anti-virus program on your computer you should uninstall it prior to installing AVG to avoid some serious conflicts.
Once you download it, just double click on the avg_free_stf_en_90_698a1730.exe to start the install. Check the box accepting the License Agreement and the install just goes. You will have to reboot after the install but that’s it for the installation. After the installation is complete, click the AVG icon that appears on your desktop after the installation to access the AVG control panel. From the control panel you can schedule updates and regulars scan of you computer.
